Italians: free health care for illegal immigrants
Eight Italians in ten, even illegal immigrants are entitled to public health. It says the latest survey by Censis whereby 80 per cent of Italians also claim that illegal immigrants have access to public healthcare services. 65.2% of respondents believe that protecting health is an inviolable right, then take care of all an act of solidarity is essential. Going up the peninsula, the lower the share of respondents who speak of health as a right for all, while increasing those convinced that there should be health too irregular to avoid the risk of uncontrolled epidemics.
Less than 20% of respondents were opposed to granting access to the NHS to illegal and irregular.
It is just over 24%
residents in the North-West, 24.8% of people with low educational qualifications, over 24% of those living in cities with over 250,000 inhabitants.
Only 13% of respondents, illegal and irregular are not entitled to health because they do not pay taxes, for just over 5% because they increase the cost of health care.
The immigrant population is on average younger and health of the Italian. For the moment, foreigners use less health care facilities (about 65% of them) and mostly for emergency admissions to the emergency room (5.7% versus 3.3% of Italians ) rather than prevention and specialist visits. For the future, according to Censis , greater integration of immigrants will also cause higher levels of protection of their health , in line with the standard Italian .
